We have just te done our kitchen and not sure where to put them and what to put them in. I no longer want to keep them in the plastic bag they come in and I am going to try and buy them loose anyway to stop the plastic consumption. Some sort of hessian bag?

Potato bag on a hook as I don’t have a drawer / cupboard space

Akire · 25/06/2019 18:19

I keep mine in ceramic bowl with tea towel over the top to keep it “dark”. In small flat so there isn’t a cool place to keep them and no room in the fridge.

In my potato rack.

Not really - in a cloth bag inside a cupboard.

Basket in the cupboard

In the fridge, even though I know it's meant to spoil them. They don't seem any different to me and last ages.

formerbabe · 25/06/2019 19:50

The fridge. I tried the cupboard and they started sprouting in a couple of days. They last for ages in the fridge.

In a special potato bag from Lakeland.

Iwantacookie · 25/06/2019 19:58

In a bag for life in the cupboard under the stairs

orangeshoebox · 25/06/2019 20:01

cloth bag in drawer together with onions and carrots

A lined hessian potato bag, possibly from Lakeland, I can’t remember. I have an onion and a garlic one too, in smaller sizes.

Takingabreakagain · 25/06/2019 20:18

Also in a Lakeland potato bag here..
And not in the same cupboard as onions - apparently they give off gases which spoil the potatoes much quicker.

Brown paper bag in the garage. They always seem to last ages!

Inside the eleven year old. He’s not yet met a potato dish he doesn’t enjoy getting on the outside of:o

NetballHoop · 25/06/2019 20:59

In a cardboard box in one of the cupboards they snuggle up with onions and sweet potatoes.

FunnysInLaJardin · 25/06/2019 21:00

In the fridge, they last far longer.....and I come from the land of the Jersey Royal so it must be the best way Grin

KevinKeegansPerm · 25/06/2019 21:09

In a cardboard box in my shed with the rest of the veg.

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 25/06/2019 21:09

In the Pantry (just a big walk in cupboard)

i heard that you should keep them away from onions as they encourage the spuds to sprout....
