When they go back in September, he'll be in school until 3pm. No more staggered pick ups and a full extra hour to get stuff done. Have been doing at least two pickups a day, sometimes three, for seven years and now it's over. The relief. Grin

Congratulations! Smile
I always hated the school run.

Just think when you're out of the primary school years!

Just think when you're out of the primary school years!

I couldn't believe how the time pressure eased in the morning once the eldest started catching the bus. It's a lot less stressful to say 'have you remembered your PE kit? Ok, have a nice day' than to actually be running round counting children and bags.

I have my last ever school drop off this week, though come September university starts and the journey is hours not minutes!

I hate the school run.

Yet as my middle son starts Y7, my baby will start reception.

I will have done 19 years of the school run by the time the baby is out of primary 😮

isabellerossignol · 25/06/2019 14:54

"Dontbite* you surely need some sort of recognition for that. A new years honour or something! That's quite an ordeal...

Aw, I loved the school run and did about 25 years of it.
I miss it like mad now and hope to be able to do it with gc next. Grin

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou** I feel your pain. I'll be on 21 years of them by the time the baby leaves Primary. I planned them badly so one (will in baby's case) always started as one finished! 🙈

My eldest is 26, I started doing the school run with her to Nursery in September 1996. My youngest is in Y3. By the time she leaves in July 2022 I will have been doing the school run for about 25 years (I had a break of about 3 years as my eldest was 13 and in high school when my 2nd DC was born, but I started the pre-school/private nursery run with him when he was 5 months old).

The killer was when he started Nursery school, I had my youngest DD who then also had to be dropped off at a private nursery after son was in Nursery school. Felt like I'd done a day's work before I'd even got to work.

I went to the same school myself so have worked out that out of my current 44 years, I've spent nearly 35 years of my life going to that darned school day in day out 🤣🤣

I cannot wait for my youngest's last day at primary! My eldest plans on having a baby next year. Here's hoping I don't end up doing any grandchildren drop offs there too 😱

Congratulations on reaching the next step!! Flowers

(Living in a different country I never had to do a school run apart from the first 6 month of year one and kindergarten (under 3y))

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 25/06/2019 15:30

Least you got 3 years break!
I've timed mine so that kids tag team one another with regards to leaving and starting primary!

Eldest will be 25 when ds3 starts Y7

I’ve been doing 2 kids, 2 different schools in 2 different towns, starting and finishing at 2 different times for the last 5 years! In September: 2 kids in 1 town...1 in college and 1 in university!!
No more school runs, what am ai going to do with all that extra time?
Who cares!! 🤣😂😜

faeriesandelves · 25/06/2019 16:31

I loved the school run and really miss it. Can't wait to be needed for school runs for little GS when he starts in the autumn !!

MargotsFlounceyBlouse · 25/06/2019 17:02

YANBU I love the school run, sets the day off on the right note because I am a control freak Uber prepper but I love it when it's straightforward like when both or all are at primary together so its easier and nice to go in a little gang Grin

End of an era and start of a new one OP X enjoy your extra hour.

CapybarasLoveCake · 25/06/2019 17:08

Another 2 years for me
