How long is too long? What is safe?

Is it safe for a 6 month old baby to be in a car seat for a 50 minute maximum car journey, with or without breaks?

I am at work from 2 til 7.30 so apologies in advance if I appear slow to respond.

No problem.

Yes.
Advice is 30 mins ideally for newborn, 2hrs for any other age baby in baby car seat.

Confused it can take 50 minutes to travel 3 miles in rush hour here. When did this become a thing?

thaegumathteth Of course

That is what I thought, but I was told it was 30 minutes travel for a newborn then add 5 minutes travel per month. I know how long it can take for us to drive a couple of miles through the town and even the trip from maternity unit home after delivery takes at least 25 minutes, which is why I wanted to ask mums and dads who had had advice about it .
Thank you all.
Sorry for any typos, am rushing, loo break at work.

I've never heard that rule before. We have regularly travelled 4 hours with only 1 stop since my daughter was 5 months! I do often sit with her in the back if not on my own.

I think as long as they have reasonable head control and are well supported in their seats then you dont need over think it.
