Ebay feedback - what would you give?

I bought a low cost electric battery item (under £5) from Ebay. I didn't want cheap knock off tat so sorted only on sellers whose location was UK. Yes UK sellers can import tat but my experience has been poor with imported stuff from China/Hong Kong based sellers. I ordered the cheapest version but the delivery time after purchase meant it surely couldn't be delivered from the UK. I checked item location 'London' then seller location 'China'!! So the seller has got round the Ebay filters with item location despite actually being a Chinese seller.

I've gone through a dozen of the cheapest and they're all contradictory item/seller location. I've reported them as it falls under a specific policy contravention.

The item has arrived and as expected it's cheap tat that barely works. I had my last one for over 15 years so this one will never make it anywhere close (yes I appreciate things costing c£5 are not built to last but this is simple electronics that has little to go wrong).

What feedback do I give? There's no point sending it back to China because the postage exceeds the value.

Complain to the seller. They might just refund you rather than insist you send it back. I'd personally do that first, see what they say, and leave either negative (if they don't help you) or neutral (if they do) but state in your feedback that the seller is in China.

That's a good idea thank you.

This is a fairly recent phenomenon but its seemingly very common, happened to me a fair few times.

I’ve just returned an eBay item. eBay send a prepaid label you have to print and the seller has to cover the costs and refund you.
