ADVICE- DH had to swerve a car that pulled out, damaged his car but other rive drove off!!

DH works nights coming home early hours this morning and a car pulled out in front of him and he had to swerve which made him hit some railings - his car is slightly damaged. Other drive drove off.

He went back into work and reported it and they are going to look at CCTV footage.

Ive told him to call 101 to report it and get a number then call his insurance.

What else should he be doing?

Police has given him a number now to quote to the insurance

Hope that there’s proof of the other car pulling out?
Although depending on the circumstances it still might not mean he’s not at fault in the eyes of the insurance company unfortunately

He would have been better off letting it hit him. I had similar and was held accountable.

Claim gone through as he was trying to avoid a collision. Just wont get excess back that's all
