Not a TAAT but I see often Generation X, Baby Boomers, Millenials and I don't have a clue what they are. From.inferences I het they are when you are born.
I was 1977 so what does that make.me?
Anyone care to enlighten me in terms of time frame and characteristics?

70s people (myself included) are awesome and amazing because we survived the cold war, Thatcher and the strikes 😁

I declare that we shall hereby be known as The Fabs (as in fabulous) 😎

Baby boomers are the post ww2 generation born 1945-1965.

Next is generation x 1965-1980. From the 90s book of the name.

After that it gets confusing/ is disputed.

I’ve heard of 1980-1995 as Generation Y.

Millennials are 1995/2000-2019.

From now on I imagine are generation Z.

I tend to think of millennials as anyone who doesn’t remember a world pre 9/11.

Baby boomer were the ones who bought their council houses and sold them to generation x buy to let landlords who let them to Generation Y. Millennials dont need housing as they never want to leave home!

Someone here described millennials as born between (I think) 1982-1996. I was like WTAF, I am not a millennial. I’m 36 BTW. I would count anyone who is under 20 now as a millennial and definitely anyone who wasn’t alive during 9/11.

Millennials are 1995/2000-2019.

No, millennials are the generation that came of age around 2000, so born around 1980.

Hotchocolatelover yes you are, sorry.

Millennials (aka Generation Y) are those who 'came of age' around the millennium, i.e. early 80s - mid 90s - those in their mid 20s to late 30s now. Which is why you get all the billions of 'millenials aren't buying houses/are hard to manage/love their avocados' clickbait and generalisations, none of which would make sense if they were only born around 2000!

wikipedia: Millennials, also known as Generation Y, are the demographic cohort following Generation X and preceding Generation Z. Researchers and popular media typically use the early 1980s as starting birth years and the mid-1990s to early 2000s as ending birth years.

obviously there's always some overlap, i.e. most people born in 1981 would have had a more similar childhood to someone born in 1977 than someone born in 1994, but that's where the rough guidelines are drawn!

The generation before baby Boomers were The Silent Generation, btw.
