I was leaving school after pick up this afternoon and passed a mum of a girl in my DS's class. She has 3 children, her youngest being my son's classmate, both aged 5. I am aware that she has a temper, I've heard her shouting at her children several times, once threatening to throw her 6 year old in front of a lorry when he almost ran into the road, for example.
Today I heard her shouting at her DD5, something about her car door. I had already walked past, I turned to look and she had grabbed her DD by the back of her neck and was shoving her down to look at the bottom of the car door. It was so aggressive and her poor little girl was so upset. I'm ashamed to say that I didn't do anything; I was with another mum and we looked at each other in horror, although she didn't see the neck grab. I stopped, but when I turned to go back she had let her go and was just shouting at her and shoving her into the car.
I should absolutely report this to someone at school right? I said that to my friend and she said that once you make an accusation like that, you can't take it back, and I really need to think about it before I do it. But it was horrifying and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. Her daughter was terrified, and she was so aggressive with her. I've seen her dragging the kids to the car before, and heard her shouting at them several times, but this was on another level. Am I right to report it to the welfare officer at school tomorrow?
