9 year old turned into a tantrum monster

He's refusing to wipe/set the table for dinner, refusing to do his homework, refusing to eat his dinner, etc etc.

And then refusing to go to his room when we send him there to calm down.

What is going on? Is he tired? Is it hormones (or too young)? The weather? End of term exhaustion?

We've tried to talk to him but get nothing (he probably doesn't know either)

Any ideas?

Screens? Gaming?
A technology free week in some case might help to calm them down.

We don't do screens a great deal (behaviour is terrible afterwards) & its very much rationed because of this.

Something else seems to be triggering it but no clue what.

Could definitely be hormones. My lovely DS had a few tantrums out of the blue at that age, he got better when puberty started properly and he was an early starter for that. I remember it well. I recommend regular food and lots of sleep

Mine always got v tired at the end of term. Could be fatigue.
Just try to remain as calm and unfussed as possible. Not easy, I know.
