Fuse blew in iron plug - can I just replace it?

The fuse in the plug of my iron blew yesterday when I switched it off at the wall. I've never had a plug fuse go before and am not sure if I can just replace it and start using the iron again, or whether there might be a fault with the iron itself which could be dangerous. Any advice, can I give it a try? If it blows again I would replace the iron anyway.

The iron is only about 6 months old and has certainly not suffered from overuse Blush

Yes, just replace the fuse.

Yes, you can just replace it. Make sure you use the right sort of fuse, and it will be fine.

When I was a student nurse, I almost bought myself a new iron when mine stopped working - luckily I checked the fuse, and changed it, and the iron went in working for years. In my defence, I was only 19. Blush

It's worth replacing it once. If it blows again, there obviously something wrong with the iron.

If its only six months old I'd take it back to where you bought it from.

Thank you all, I will give it a go. And yes, I will definitely be asking for a replacement from the retailer if it happens again!
