Cold roast beef accompaniments

Hello,

I bought a lovely piece of beef to have with guests this week, but the weather is now going to be hot so I've decided to serve it cold. Does anyone have any ideas of interesting things to serve it with?
Thanks!

I'm traditionalist so my answer is potato salad, a nice green salad and, of course, horseradish sauce Smile

An old Lancashire recipe- sliced white onions steeped in a bowl of malt vinegar for a few hours, with a little white pepper. Add to beef on white floury rolls- delicious.

That's a Yorkshire tradition Gerbo Grin. We add cucumber slices too.

How about an interesting coleslaw with celeraic and so on and a nice dressing? New potatoes and some lovely herby bread too!

Dill and French mustard

Piccalilli. In all of it's glorious crunchy yellowness.

Good selection of salads. If it's going to be superhot that's what would appeal to me. Potato salad definitely, tomato salad or just some really good cherry tomatoes in bowls, green salad, lots of cucumber, coleslaw perhaps, bean salad. Mustard and chutney as well as horseradish sauce.

My favourite way to eat (rare) roast beef is with balsamic onions, rocket, hot roast potatoes and an inordinate amount of horseradish. It sounds weird but it is genuinely amazing...something about the combination just makes it extra special. It would be my 'if you could only eat one final meal' option! Wink

A mustardy potato salad, a big green salad, some lovely tomatoes, and then a proper English trifle for dessert.
Good cheeseboard for later.

I'd have it with salad, baked potato, piccallili, crusty bread or garlic bread

If none of you have an issue about high cholesterol, cold rare roast beef and tartiflette is lush..

So. Good.

formerbabe · 25/06/2019 20:25

Potato salad

Beetroot salad

Horseradish cream

Rocket salad

So hungry now!!

IGottaSeeJane · 25/06/2019 20:43

Mustard (English not Dijon and Coleman's for preference).

Horseradish cream.

Good homemade pickle.

Add beef to any of the above and place in a freshly buttered roll or between slices of freshly buttered bread; best quality you can get.

Vegetable/salad is not req'd.
