Anyone started their own business ?
Just enough to live on and be happy ?
What type of business did you choose?

Yes - two in fact - but they came about through spotting a gap in the market, and being absolutely passionate about what I wanted to do. I’m turning over six figures now but most of that goes back into our costs.

I run 2 businesses from home, both grew from my hobbies as a natural development. I saw a niche both times and struck out on my own. Love my ”work” because it certainly doesn't feel like work!

Yes I did (retail)
Worst mistake of my life and one from which I'll never recover from financially
I still have massive anxiety over it and it was almost 10 years ago

I do! I have a company making kids clothes. I trained as a designer and worked for other brands for years before doing my own ethical brand.

Yes but it was work I was already doing and knew I could do it for low start up and there was a Demand. I’m very happy and quite comfortable financially. Good hours for fitting around children/school.

Yes, after staying at home for a few years with baby/toddler dc I went self-employed doing the job I used to do full-time as an employee.

You have to choose something you already know how to do, or have experience in - or something artistic you are naturally good at so you can sell the resulting articles.

It's no good trying to pluck an idea out of thin air.
