Five week old baby has had a hard couple of days and we are bamboozled as to what could be wrong; she’s on a sort of schedule with feeds approx every 3/4 hours but here’s the past few days:

  1. Mammoth quantities of milk consumed Thursday and Friday - 800ml across 24h.
  1. Less over Saturday and Sunday (back to 650ml approx) and more cranky.
  1. Reluctance to settle over this time and seeming inability to drop off properly; grizzling for an hour or so, sushy pats don’t work, “ignoring” whilst present doesn’t work either.
  1. No vomit comets over Thursday and Friday but back to being possetty and pukey Saturday and Sunday. Massive chunder Sunday afternoon, I suspect overeating.
  1. Picking at feeds, now only 60ml a session. Previously took up to 150ml a session and awake throughout, winded for 30mins after a feed, usually gives good burps at the end.
  1. Making hunger cues in bed but eating little, arching back during feeds but little wind emitted during feed. Pulling up legs when put down but as soon as she zonks they relax and we can swaddle.

She’s FF with HIPP Organic and she’s my third baby so I’m not inexperienced.

I’m just at a loss, she’s upset and cranky and has been crying continuously for 90mins now. HV isn’t picking up so am canvassing MN for experienced opinions.

Have you got got the wonder weeks app? According to that they go through a developmental leap at 5 weeks, which often leads to more cry8ng, fussing when feeding etc. Some people think it’s nonsense but iv3 found it to be bang on for my daughter. If it is this there’s not a lot you can do, you have a sucky few days then she’s back to normal.

If she’s struggling with wind have you tried infacol? Again mixed reviews but I’ve found it good.
