Swollen Abdomen and wind weeks after laparoscopic sterilisation- when will it stop???

I am nearly three weeks post laparoscopic sterilisation and I still look about 5 months pregnant most of the time! It seems to be a combination of general bloating, like during my periods, and gas, as I am also passing wind an awful lot more!
It’s really starting to get me down now. Nobody mentioned this would happen before the op, all everyone kept saying was that I would be back in work within a week. Which I was, but I’m still struggling to fit into my work clothes!
Has anyone else experienced this? And if so, did anything help?

I was still bloated for a while afterwards over a fortnight i took some peppermint capsules and drank cups of boiled water seemed to sort out the wind.

I was a bit bloated for a few days afterwards.

Is there an aftercare number you could ring just to check this is still ok given it's been three weeks?

I might try peppermint capsules, sorting out my constant farting would be a start!
I work in the Hospital anyway and when’s i mentioned it to one of the doctors there they just gave me their sympathetic doctor-face and said it will take time... not very helpful!

That sucks! YY, on MN everyone goes on about how female sterilisation is just a non-deal and like nothing. My SIL was swollen for over a month.

OralB yes! My consultant was the same, I came from my pre op appointment thinking I would be skipping out of the hospital a couple of hours after the procedure and basically have no side effects whatsoever. Thanks for your reply - glad to hear that your SIL deflated after a month, it gives me some hope that I will go back to normal at some point.
