Can anyone recommend a destination for a short holiday in September?

Looking at booking a last minute holiday for the second week of September when the children go back to school for myself and my partner.

We weren't sure whether to book a holiday this year as my partners job was unstable but thankfully he has had his contract renewed!

We are looking at going somewhere for approx 4 or 5 days, quite open really as to where we go although hoping to keep within a relatively cheap budget. Open to either a beach style holiday or a city break.

Looking at either the UK or Europe

Please inspire me!!!!

I recommend booking to wherever has the cheapest flights for your dates! My friend dies this and it always works out well for her.

If you went somewhere like Malaga or Barcelona you can do both city and beach if you can't decide between the two.

I was going to say Barcelonal. City and beach. Or Lisbon.

We've just come back from a short, half-board holiday in Crete which we enjoyed so much we're thinking of going again in the autumn...we also had a lovely spring break a couple of years ago in Grenada.

Benalmadena. Cheap, beach, loads of tapas bars, close to Malaga airport.

Or Amsterdam if you want a city break.

How about Nice and Monaco in the south of France - they're next to each other so you can see both, but Nice is a lot cheaper to stay than Monaco. Always nice weather, art galleries, beach, people watching etc

It's also easy to get the train to places like Cannes and St Tropez further along the coast if you have a spare day as well.

There's a handy airport in Nice that all the airlines fly in to which is then a 5 minute train ride into the centre of Nice.
