Block braces, anyone?

Dd is coming up for 8 weeks of block braces now. She had an 12mm overbite. They told her it would be 4-6 months. I’m hoping it will be done before high school and she will have proper braces.

I can not believe the difference. Her nose and everything has changed. She was struggling to breath and talk before but it’s all changed. She’s not complained once and only takes them out to eat.

Anyone else’s child going through this? Would love to see pics!

My son had these for (I believe) a year prior to wired braces to correct an overbite. It utterly changed his jaw and profile for the better — completely life-changing Smile

Sorry, he’d not be happy for pics but wanted to say your DD’s results are similarly gorgeous. Well done to her and to you Flowers

Thank you! She has her first appointment soon, what do they do? X

They just check that there has been some movement and that it is comfortable and that she is wearing them. My dd had them, followed by train tracks, and now has lovely teeth and jawline! She just wears a retainer at night. She ate with hers in as well.
Your DDs results look great!

I had these when I was 11! Bless her. She seems to be coping so well!

They were an absolute PITA and I did find them very painful in the beginning, but that's just me.

I'm so glad that I had them in, though. My face completely changed. I still have a very slight overbite now (maybe 1 or 2mm?) but not noticeable and completely 'normal!'

Please encourage her to keep wearing them if it does get painful, it's so so worth it Thanks

Oh and with my appointments, I remember them gradually sawing down the blocks until they were pretty much flat.

Although that was many years ago now, I doubt that it's really changed.
