Just being nosy really. Have been searching my brain for weeks trying to think of skills I have to offer and NADA.

I'm a freelance consultant. I evaluate the impact and effectiveness of foreign aid programmes for a living.

I can do most of the research set up and design from home, and then either travel to the country for a bit or get someone local to do the in country research while i do phone interviews and document review. Then i do analysis and write up. Really interesting work.

Oh wow, I didn't expect so many replies!

Some of these careers sound so interesting. I've been out of the workforce for such a long while now that my confidence is in tatters - I'd love to grow the cahonas needed to go out on my own and do something which I genuinely enjoy.
I wouldn't even know where to start though.

Did you just fall into your situations? Or were they a product of careful planning and long-term thinking?

@MotherOfTheNoise I'd love to own a pub! That's been my dream since I was about 14.

@ZorbeeAndTheLemur I've always wondered how people make a living from that - not meaning to sound rude! Do you buy the clothes and just sell them for more? Make them yourself?

@Biscusting I want to join your business please. I could see myself flanging my spangles happily until retirement.

@SukiPutTheEarlGreyOn That sounds really interesting. What does that entail?

@Pillowcase99 A bit of everything. Perfect job!
