A question re the Boris/Police thing.

How did The Guardian have a crime reference number? And isn't it a bit dodgy that they attempted to deny it until The Guardian provided details.
I would have thought that was a matter for investigation in itself?

I suppose they got the crime number from the neighbour, and the vehicle details

It's all a bit shifty they said "nothing doing" until specific details were provided though.

I do wish people would stop chummily calling him 'Boris'.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 22/06/2019 12:38

Yes I presumed the neighbours had the vehicle details but I didn't think a crime ref number was issued unless there was a crime? which there doesn't appear to have been?

Are we honestly surprised? He is in a very powerful position, within the top section of the elite.

If I'm honest I'm more surprised that it's come out.

We can't expect decency and morality from him, or his cronies. He alone has a past which reads like a comedy skit for stereotypes, why is anyone surprised by this?

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 22/06/2019 12:44

My question wasn't about his morality .

But his morality is directly linked to the issue. Because if he wasn't a scumbag, there wouldn't be a story would there? Nor would said story have been squashed until some very determined journalist managed to find evidence.

It's directly linked to his morality (or lack thereof)

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 22/06/2019 12:57

You don't have to be a scumbag for a paper to do a story about you.
My question was about technicalities, procedure, legalitites .
I'm not interested in a debate about how scummy he is.

Oh right, fair enough, missed that memo about very specific comments on a public forum.

Short thread though.

OP: how did they possibly get that info?

Everyone else: someone told them.

OP: ah ok, question answered.

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 22/06/2019 13:24

yes, I wondered that too, surely "incident number" is less inflammatory than crime number, esp if as the Guardian are correct the Met are saying there was no crime.
