" I can't be on my own"

Would you consider dating someone who openly says this?
A friend and I had a disagreement about this. She says it's just normal, I say I wouldn't want to be involved with someone who can't be on their own, and would potentially use someone else for company.

Your thoughts?

I'm amazed at people who are so open about not having the wherewithal to be single as if it's to be proud of ....Ive heard it once or twice and been somewhat surprised.

Then again it was once from someone who told me I shouldn't fix my own car because men would feel I was trying to take over from them so that one probably doesn't count because she was nuts.
