My seven week old developed a Cephalohematoma after being born with the use of forceps. These are bumps on the skull formed by a collection of fluid which are relatively soft. His bump has now hardened (calcification) with a dip in the middle.
We've had a scan which revealed it is one of two things; subperiosteal hematoma or something to do with CSV (cerebral spinal fluid). It's not urgent; we've been given an appointment for two weeks. I suspect it is the first one based on Google, but we've been given very little information whatsoever about what to look for or potential implications.
From what I've read this SPH is 'normal' but very rare in that 3-5% of children with Cephalohematomas develop this. I'd like to know if any of you had a child with this condition.
