I have a cold/virus for 6 weeks now and feeling worse again today - why won't it go?

So this day 6 weeks ago I developed a bad sore throat for 3 days and then developed into temperature, blocked/runny nose, mucus on my chest/tickly cough. I'm not quite as bad as I was but it's not going. This week I've been feeling worse than last and today I have got not a headache but a kind of 'heavy' head and stiffish neck. Is it just a prolonged virus?

I had this and it went:

Cough (3 months)
Pleurisy
Chest Infection
Pneumonia

It was shit. It sounds like you’ve skipped maybe to step 3- go to the doctors and don’t leave without antibiotics. Good luck and get well soon Flowers

Oh, don't tell me that Outdoorsie, I seem to have this virus too!

I went to the doctors a week ago to pick up a prescription - fit as a flea, next day I was floored with headache, sore throat, bunged up nose, half my lungs working, I could hardly breathe. Still the same days later. And my legs are super wobbly...It can't last 6 weeks, I haven't got time to be ill !!!!!
I hope we get better soon

I have had something similar for 10 weeks in total with the worst part lasting 3-4 weeks. Light head, dizziness, fever, headache, shortness of breath and fatigue. Just left now with jumpy nerves and glands flaring up every now and then, seen numerous docs and seems is a virus.
