Coughing until I am sick

Hi, I am really feeling sorry for myself. I am 17 and pregnant with my first (due end August), thing is, I have come down with this AWFUL cough which is making me physically sick up to 6 times a day (3 times already today). I am having to just eat and drink so I have something to bring back again. I've been to the GP and she says it's DEFINITLEY not whooping cough, but I am not sure. I don't whoop, but 9 times out of 10, I am sick during or after an attack, which lasts upto 4 minutes. It's worse in the morning, and there is LOADS of thick clear mucus (tmi - sorry). I have never smoked, not got asthma, and did have a cold 3 weeks ago, but following that, the cough is getting worse. I just need a hug :( and any advice on how to ease it (or at least cough without being sick)...GP says baby is fine (thank goodness, as I did worry the poor little girl would be dizzy). Ruthiee x

Teenagers & adults don’t always ‘whoop’ with whooping cough - mine didn’t & was very ill, sick during/after coughing fits, endless phlegm- that phase does wear off but the illness lasts a long time. The only way to 100% rule it out is to have tests (I can’t remember if it was blood or mucus tested). We were told for months it ‘couldn’t be’ whooping cough & he was only diagnosed towards the end. Might be worth asking if they could test so you know what you are dealing with.
