Medications/nervous during pregnancy

imnotcheryl · 21/06/2019 02:56

So I am 11 weeks pregnant, and since finding out have been sick constantly. (All day morning sickness.) So I've been given various meds for that.

I've also had a flu shot earlier on. I've now got a terrible cold and cough so have been taking paracetamol and using ventolin.

I feel really awful about all the things I'm putting into my body and obviously concerned about the effect on the baby so early on.

Has anyone been through similar?

Flu shot is fine - I take it you're not in the UK though as its out of season.

No Dr is going to prescribed medication to you if they know you're pregnant that will harm the baby.

Thanks Jo.

I think I've got a chest infection now, waiting to be seen by a doctor. Can probably add antibiotics to the mix. I'm probably being paranoid, just hard when we tried for so long and I want this pregnancy to go well.

It is best for the baby that you are well. You are not going to be prescribed anything unnecessary or that is as high risk of harming the baby, but I know how hard it is not to worry. I hope you feel better soon.

It'll go well for having the meds you need to keep you healthy, OP, that's the best thing you can do for your DC at the moment. As PP have said you won't be given anything they aren't confident will be ok to use. There are definitely several antibiotics you can have while pregnant too, you'll be given one of those. Try not to worry Flowers

If you need reassurance, please go to a pharmacy and ask to speak to the pharmacist on duty. They were so helpful when I had similar concerns.

Thanks everyone. I'm now on antibiotics and using ventolin as I've had an asthma flare up. I haven't been this sick in years!
