Is anyone else insanely messy that you make a mess out of everything you touch?

I feel incredibly messy and even more so, considering I'm a female. Not just the normal messy but extremely so. Like I'd try and do my hair nicely yet in 20 mins, it looks like it's been in a hurricane (I have thick, wavy, frizzy hair), my handwriting is awful, even when going to a beautiful hotel, I can make it look like an earthquake has happened within 20 minutes of staying there, even hanging clothes on the laundry line, it's never even and looks like I've thrown it on, car interior is a mess, no matter what I eat, I leave tons of crumbs and stains, even brushing my teeth, I leave toothpaste stains on my t-shirt that have dribbled out whilst brushing.., my clothes ae usually falling off on one shoulder so t-shirts etc never look even.

Is anyone else this bad? I sometimes do try and make a conscious effort to be neater but I'm not elegant at all so it takes way too much effort. Even the way I walk isn't neat (I kinda feel like one of my legs is a few mm shorter than the other).

:(

Me!
I am nodding in recognition at all of your examples.
I leave a trail of destruction everywhere I go. I try to tidy up sometimes, but it is never satisfactory nor lasts long so what's the point. Drives poor dp mad but he is patient.

AuntGinny · 20/06/2019 22:45

Dyspraxia?

Thecomfortador · 20/06/2019 22:50

I'm pretty messy. Not dyspraxic but I just don't notice stuff needs picking up, putting away. I keep all wrappers and receipts in pockets and bags so they're full of crap. I end up with bits of food on my hands from cooking or feeding the kids and end up wiping on my clothes. Hair is a law unto itself. Car a shit tip. I have no sense of order - evem when I've tidied it just looms shit. Yet I love clean, tidy houses empty of clutter. I just have no instinct for doing it myself.

Thecomfortador · 20/06/2019 22:51

Hit a few too many Ms there (I had deleted a few prior to posting as well haha).

blankittyblank · 20/06/2019 22:54

Me too! My DH is super tidy and we've had so many arguments where he doesn't get why I've not tidied something up which is in the middle of the floor. I genuinely don't see it!! It's so hard for me to make him understand that I just don't see the mess. When he points it out it's obvious though.
My appearance too, I always look shabby! Even in nice clothes. Quite annoying sometimes!

RosesandCuddles · 22/06/2019 00:35

Thanks everyone so far, I'm glad I'm not the only one!

I can tangle cables into knots just by sitting in a 6 foot radius

RosesandCuddles · 22/06/2019 19:24

lol :)

Yes!

My desk at work, my house, my car, my appearance, my hotel room. I even seem to mess up nice restaurant tables...🤷‍♀️🤣

MIdgebabe · 23/06/2019 16:58

You are not the only one. Kitchen chaos? Try to tidy something up and spill something else? Today dh went behind me with the brush as i was tidying up .

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 23/06/2019 17:05

I'm a walking disaster too. It seems like a mixture of clumsiness and poor executive functioning meaning I don't notice the chaos I'm creating until it's too late, although sometimes it does just happen for no reason at all.
I am only capable of looking nice if I stand still after dressing and don't move.

Currently, I'm in a phase of being quite accepting that it's just something I'm not good at, like being crap at mental arithmetic or spelling, which seems to be much more socially acceptable than being crap at being tidy.

MrsDilligaf · 23/06/2019 17:08

My DH is an untidy sod. He could make a mess in an empty room. Unfortunately DD is taking after him 😏

Zone4flaneur · 23/06/2019 17:35

Yep this is me. Tidying up results in other things being spilled, I always seem to have gunge on my clothes and knock things over constantly. My desk is tidy though--but only because I hot desk.

I do think I might be mildly dyspraxic- my sibling is really very dyspraxic. I do see mess but I have to have a little narrative going on how to clear it up, sort of coach myself through it.

DP is insanely tidy. I drive him mad.

Asta19 · 23/06/2019 17:41

I don’t own any white/light coloured clothes anymore because I can absolutely guarantee that after wearing them once they will be stained with something! Usually coffee or food. I had a nasty ex who used to tut and shake his head at me every time I spilt something, as if I was a total embarrassment. Which made me really self conscious about it. I can never look “put together” so I don’t even try any more!. I even managed to throw a virtually full tin of white paint over myself once when I was decorating! I am a walking disaster zone. I just laugh it off now because what else can you do.

S1naidSucks · 23/06/2019 17:43

My oldest boy says I only have to walk through a room for it to look like a hurricane has just passed through. He’s right. Blush Imagine getting told off by your son and having to acknowledge that’s he’s absolutely correct.

swisscheeseplant · 23/06/2019 17:46

I am similar - I have realised that I am dyspraxic (undiagnosed) and this is part of the condition.

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 23/06/2019 17:51

Yes I’m naturally messy and so want to be tidy Blush

Bravelurker · 23/06/2019 18:20

This is me naturally but I'm hyper aware of it so I try to not destroy mine and other peoples surroundings.
I'm sick of hearing 'she's only just got here and she has made a nest already'.

I look after my things though and I pride myself on the fact that most things look like new after years of usage unlike my DM who has gaffer tape on EVERYTHING she owns as soon as she has her clumsy mits anywhere near them.

SimonJT · 23/06/2019 18:23

My cleaner calls a certain corner of my living room shit mountain, clothes, toys, mugs, cat toys, if you can name it you’ll find it in shit mountain.
