Fingers crossed. Are you keeping water down?

NotSoThinLizzy · 20/06/2019 18:38

Yeah had some lucozade sport and then some dioralyte seems to be staying down

Glad you're a bit better. Feeling cold might actually mean you have a fever. Take some paracetamol. I was like this when I had gastro a few years ago. It was the most ill I've ever felt.

Silversun83 · 20/06/2019 20:11

I really feel for you but glad you're feeling a bit better. I had similar last year when I was around 30 weeks pregnant.. Also called for medical advice and what they suggested which was the only thing to stay down was flat lemonade. And the quickest way to make it flat is to pour a glass into another glass and repeat a few times. Best advice I've had!

Seems like it's back with a vengeance just now. Ds won't settle without me so OH is struggling abit.

You poor thing, that sounds awful.
I hope he abates soo and you get some sleep. If you can't keep anything down try sucking an ice cube or maybe an ice lolly?

Nat6999 · 20/06/2019 22:21

I was told by NHS 111 not to drink plain water as it will just bounce back, weak squash, flat coke or lemonade will help your body absorb fluid & increase your blood sugar, Lucozade Sport if you can get any would be even better. As soon as you can keep them down, take paracetamol, Calpol if you cant face taking tablets, just work out how much is equal to an adult dose, this will help the aching & keep your temperature down. When you can, get in bed with a hot water bottle & try to rest.

NotSoThinLizzy · 20/06/2019 22:27

I managed some lucozade sport earlier but it's now all coming back up and the calpol I took

Keep sipping and - this is going to sound ridiculous - try some deep breathing and anything you can to mentally will yourself not to be sick. I have had 4 of these bugs in last 3 years and breaking the pattern of vomiting really helps. I hope you feel a lot better soon.

If you stir some sugar and a pinch of salt into weak squash btw it will make a lucozade sport equivalent!

Thanks 😊 still happening. But keeping down most fluids

Very glad it’s stopped! Stick to white bread, white rice, bananas. No dairy to start with. Focus on rehydrating and get some probiotics to help repair your gut flora.
