Michael Jackson tribute show

So I am on holiday in a big family hotel. They have entertainment shows every night, very much for all the family.

Tonight's show is a Michael Jackson tribute act, I feel
Weirdly uncomfortable with this, in light of the documentary earlier this year.

Just seems in bad taste

we had one as well and I did a little too until I realised he was just doing the music and the dancing

The audience was down on other nights but I think that is because it was champions league final

There was an MJ tribute show at Haven Great Yarmouth last year.

But obvs the documentary was this year. Didn't see that bit 🙈

Regardless of any alleged claims about his personal life no one can take away what a great performer he was.

The tribute act is about the undeniably great songs and dancing.

The have done these abroad for years in Ibiza/Majorca. I sit with my arms folded and a face like a slapped backside especially when they urge all the children on stage Hmmto sing along with ' Michael'

By the looks of the poster it's full on costumes. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I'm tempted to mention it to management but I feel a bit sorry for the performer. They still have a living to earn

DH surprised me with a night out to a MJ tribute show a month or so after the documentary came out. It is definitely not something I'd have chosen to attend but decided to see it as a "goodbye" to the music and dancing before avoiding it from them on! Then I realised at least on the car of this show (thriller live) the performers had devoted their careers to this tribute act and it isn't their fault what the real MJ did. Once I thought it through that way I was able to relax and enjoy the show. I do question DH's choice of evening entertainment considering we watched the documentary together and do believe he was guilty! But not a lot of bands, acts etc come to our town so he didn't have a ton of choice to be fair.

Well what an awkward night. Room nearly empty. I poked my head in to see. Hopefully they will cancel it soo

I keep getting an advert for It on here, in between posts. 'worlds greatest MJ tribute act'. I keep coming over all bulldog chewing a wasp mouth. It's distasteful.

Very similar happen to us a couple of weeks ago on holiday the kids club did an "angels parade" all the kids dressed in white paraded in to the entertainment arena waving white roses to we are the world by MJ,the look of horror on a lot of parents faces!

Kannet · 20/06/2019 11:35

You have to wonder what they are thinking. They would never do a Gary glitter tribute act

The documentary this year was enough to make me recoil from anything to do with him ... I’d make sure I was out if I was there .... awkward is the word
