Prominent Ears

Hi guys ... this is a very strange question, but I am trying to find someone in the North of England who either had prominent ears as a child or has a child with very prominent ears. I would like to know if this was an issue to you or if it did/does not bother you at all or whether you had surgery to deal with this? This is for a PR Case Study.

My ex had three girls. The eldest was put forward for an operation when she was a young child and had her ears pinned back.

I met her when she was a teen and her ears were in the normal position but when I saw photos of her as a child when her ears were supposed to have stuck out, I was surprised as they only slightly stuck out and I thought it was unnecessary to have had them pinned but I kept my thoughts to myself.

The middle daughter had no ear issues.

Their youngest daughter had large and obvious sticking out ears. They poked through her hair and were set at an angle making them stand out even more. If anyone needed an op it was her.

However when we were talking about the older girls op and I asked if the younger girl would have the op too, my ex was furious and said her ears were fine. Confused

My step brother and step sister grew up in the north of England and both had very big jug handle ears. Brother hated his and got them pinned, sister didn't care. She had the choice, but didn't get hers done. Both in their 40s now and both happy with their decision.

I'm from the north of England and I had huge ears. They didn't fold back at all and poked straight out from my head at a 90° angle. I paid to have them pinned back in my early 20s. I could have had it done on the NHS because they were so bad, but I was so paranoid about them I just wanted to sneak away and have it done privately, rather than having to justify the effect they had on my life. The operation gave me so much more confidence. I could never wear my hair up before, even in the gym! I could never go swimming, and I was always messing with my hair to make sure my ears weren't poking out.

My cousin also had her ears pinned back when she was a teenager, but she had it done on the NHS. That was in northern England too.

Do big ears occur more frequently in the North?
