Primary schools in Linlithgow

Hi all,

I'm looking for some advice. My family and I are moving to Linlithgow in July. I have a five-year-old daughter who will be starting primary school in August. We are not from the area and we're looking for recommendations for good primary schools. Does anybody have any good advice / tips? Thanks.

I live close to Linlithgow but not sure about which of the primary schools is the best (helpful!). Try posting in the Scotsnet topic, you'll be sure to find someone with better knowledge there

Thanks. I didn't know that was even there.

Google : West Lothian Council
www.westlothian.gov.uk/article/2231/Find-a-school-or-nursery?
There are several Primaries and each have defined catchment areas.
If you just Google Primary Schools in West Lothian, you'll see reviews.
Watch out for the boundaries:the River Avon at Linlithgow Bridge is one, houses on the West bank(!) aren't in Linlithgow town's schooling catchment. On the other hand the boundary on the East includes quite a lot of countryside beyond that end of town.
Linlithgow house prices are higher than similar in nearby areas, due to the reputation of Linlithgow Academy. It may be looking further ahead, for when your child is older, but that's the attraction(as well as a fully manned railway station and easy commute to Glasgow and Edinburgh). Also,Mary Queen of Scots was born at the Palace,so the town hoaches with tourists at times.Good luck.

In Scotland it is usual to send your child to the catchment school depending on your post code. Unless you wish your child to go to the Catholic primary school.

If you still intend to be in the area for High School I would but more emphasis into picking a Primary that feeds into your preferred high school.

if your preferred primary is not your local catchment school you can put in a placement request.

Be aware that the Scotland school holidays start in a few weeks.

Hi we stay in linlithgow and my little boy goes to Springfield which is a great school. In fairness I think all of the primary schools in linlithgow are good.

All the schools in the town are good, and it is usual to send your child to your catchment area one.

Which area will you be living in?
