I'm so impressed with myself. Made the Mickey/Minnie one a few weeks ago, and made the Toy Story one today. The Mickey was an old duvet cover, but I bought the Toy Story duvet cover this morning from Primark. It's far cheaper than buying fabric.

I made my wedding bunting out of a double duvet cover and some spray starch!

duvet cover was on sale at Asda, £7 ish I believe.

I still have the other side to use for something!

I have saved some of my old duvet covers too, planning to make dog bed covers with them.

These are brilliant! I clicked on the link because your title was so fab - but I'm well impressed.

I used to make patchwork quilts - and always bought double sheets from charity shops to use as the backing, because it was so much cheaper to buy a sheet for £2 or £3 than buy the material.

(Wanders off to find duvet to make into dress - I am large and it will look like a tent on me) Grin

GiggleMcDimples · 18/06/2019 19:36

Nonsense Martha it'll look gorgeous on you!

DarkHumour · 18/06/2019 19:46

GiggleMcDimples Even better, have a fab time. I’m sure you’ll get lots of compliments when you wear them.

BloodyhellMartha · 18/06/2019 20:06

Thank you Giggles!

Honestly, it won't. But I'm tempted to find a Dumbo one... :)

UnalliterativeGeorge · 18/06/2019 20:11

I made DS some Thomas the tank engine trousers from an old duvet. It's very satisfying!

gaggiagirl · 18/06/2019 21:04

I absolutely love the toy story one!

HoneysuckIejasmine · 18/06/2019 21:11

I use duvet covers for sewing projects too. Much cheaper than fabric! Never made a dress though, you've inspired me!

elephantoverthehill · 18/06/2019 21:12

They look great. We make pyjama trousers with the students at school out of their old duvet covers, Disney, Minecraft and unicorns etc. If you get an old duvet with contrasting front and back you can make two different pyjama legs or they swap amongst themselves. The students are really excited when they see the trousers coming together.

chuckyeggtimestwo · 18/06/2019 21:15

They look great and very original. They remind me of the dresses my mum used to make me - all my mates used to ask her to make them one! she also used to make me matching headbands!

Fantastic - really love these!

elephantoverthehill · 18/06/2019 22:03

Giggles if I get a chance I will post the pattern number etc when I am in school tomorrow. From memory it is a Mcalls unisex cargo pant pattern.

Redshoeblueshoe · 18/06/2019 22:06

Fabulous Star

BlamesFartsOnTheNeighbour · 18/06/2019 22:07

I do this! You can buy up old duvet covers and sheets at jumble sales and charity shops for literally pennies, it's much cheaper than buying fabric new.

Jon65 · 18/06/2019 22:08

For cheapish fabric, Birmingham rag market is very good. I got some lovely stuff at 2 pound a metre.
