Looking for hairdresser to do super cropped hair cut

Hi looking for a hair dresser that's particularly fond of doing cropped cuts - it's for my anxious 14 year olds first "adult" hair cut as she's always avoided the hair dressers like the plague. Picture attached and we are looking for something before Saturday - thanks!!

Toni and Guy?

Great hairstyle!

If you don't get many responses here it could be worth reposting on the Scotsnet board.

When I got my hair chopped for the first time, years ago, I went to the senior stylist (director) in Vidal Sassoon in Glasgow. To get to that level in such a large company, they really had to have expertise. I then go back to my more suburban stylist for cheaper maintenance.
A word of warning- highly styled short hair is very expensive to maintain!

FogCutter · 18/06/2019 11:03

No idea about hairdressers in Glasgow but what a gorgeous haircut that is!

FogCutter · 18/06/2019 11:03

Or Edinburgh even 🤦🏻‍♀️

Ntsh2244 · 18/06/2019 11:20

I was thinking the higher we go the better! And yes we've been discussing this for about 3 months so she's been well prepped on upkeep / shock factor from what she has ect - fingers crossed it goes well for her or we may not visit another hair dresser for another 7 years....😬

Don't have any recommendations for Edinburgh but don't go to Toni and Guy. They tend to do a very limited range of styles, and even if you ask for something else you'll end up with one of theirs!

Are you on a Facebook page for Edinburgh? That's going to be your best bet for recommendations.

Bruce Masefield has a salon in Edinburgh. He was a director at Sassoon.

Looks great but does her school have a policy on extreme haircuts? It may be worth checking as some boys at ds school were suspended having a similar cut, long on top and shaved underneath.

My sister has short hair similar to that. She says that a mens hairdressers seem to be best with short hair. Actually works out cheaper going to a barbers too.

Lessstressedhemum · 18/06/2019 12:03

My dad had that haircut at 16, that colour, as well, with some purple "highlights". Can't advise on hairdressers since I live far from Edinburgh, but it is a lovely haircut. It can be a bit of a footer in the morning, though, and takes a wee bit practice getting the volume in.

Lessstressedhemum · 18/06/2019 12:04

The first one, I mean. She's had the second one too, though. It's a wee bit easier to do in the mornings.

WhiteLightTrainWreck · 18/06/2019 12:09

I had a similar (slightly longer) style at 14! Absolutely loved it, glad you've discussed upkeep and maintance so she knows, because it was a bitch to style daily!
I would suggest a barber, that's where I went, sometimes they have the better skillset for a shorter 'do.

ISmellBabies · 18/06/2019 13:02

I love that look.

federationrep · 18/06/2019 15:44

Cheynes George St, or any of the other branches. Not Charlie Miller, I used to find they were too busy to listen properly to what I wanted. When you make the appointment make them aware that it's a big change and while DD is sure of what she wants it's her first visit in a while so she might be nervous

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 18/06/2019 15:50

Lovely style! It looks as though the model has very thick and bouncy hair. Consider the type of hair your daughter has. But a good hairdresser will advise surely.

Veterinari · 18/06/2019 15:50

Myles hairdressers. Ask for John in the Dalry branch. Expensive but he listens to what you want and will cut it to suit you

complicat3d · 19/06/2019 19:05

I have a very similar hairstyle. But not in Edinburgh. A barber is the only place I can go to get the correct cut. No hairdresser seems to be able to get the fading work done correctly.
Here Turkish barbers are the best but they don't speak much English so it may be hard to convey what your daughter wants if it is a completely new style.
But I think a men's stylist is needed for such a short edgy cut.
Styling wise a bit of volumising powder and some wax and it will take 2 mins in the morning if she is in a rush to look good

Seeingadistance · 19/06/2019 19:56

I've had a similar cut for a while now - even shorter now! - and have been going to a local barber's for the past year. It costs £10, so I'm happy going every 2 or 3 weeks to keep it looking good, and the barber actually knows how to use clippers and cut hair short!

MerrilyWatkins · 19/06/2019 20:57

My daughter (15) went to the hairdresser for her first crop but it took hours, was expensive and they were reluctant to go as short as she wanted.

She much prefers the barbers.

CadburysTastesVileNow · 19/06/2019 21:00

Lessstressed - I was going to ask if your dad was a teenager in the 80s before i twigged ...

FairlyOddmother · 19/06/2019 21:34

Hot Head, on West Richmond Street. All the stylists are good and it's quite a trendy/'edgy' salon imo

Onprozacandmyhighhorse · 19/06/2019 22:52

My DD has the same cut and gets it done at the barbers. It's gorgeous and changes colour every couple of weeks although she does the colour herself.

Lessstressedhemum · 20/06/2019 18:59

Cadbury, I noticed the dad thing to lateGrin

I actually have quite a similar cut, but my hair is very curly, so the top looks a bit different. I get mine done at the barber. I used to get a similar cut in the 80s, when I was at uni. I went to the Cheynes in Lothian Road. But that was 100 years ago.
