Ideas for a 70th birthday present

Looking for a nice present for a woman turning 70, but all I keep turning up is:
a) afternoon tea (doing already)
b) prosecco (poof and it's gone)
c) gin (not sure she drinks it)
d) twee "nan" or "always in my heart" tat

Has anyone got any better ideas? I need to be able to get hold of it by Friday.

New cycling helmet or bike saddle.

Tom Ford cosmetics.

Trainers

Theatre /opera / concert tickets

Museum/ gallery Friend gift.

Vogue / LRB /NYRB subscription.

A pile of new prizewinning books.

For a recent 80th birthday, we got the Times newspaper from the day they were born - seemed to go down well.

For her 70th my sister & I bought my mum a lovely pair of gold earrings; & Michelle Obama's autobiography; her favourite Chanel perfume; a pack of Boots No7 skincare products, a crystal necklace & finally a Rotary watch with small diamonds in as Mum has always wanted diamonds!!

If it’s a family member, then how about a nice photo of family?
If you went somewhere like Tesco’s photo sections then you’d probably be able to get photos printed onto canvases or mugs etc quite quickly.

alligatorsmile · 18/06/2019 12:05

Theatre tickets might be nice. Not a family member.

What sort of things does she like? Is she outdoorsy / into culture / music / books / nice clothes?

If she likes jewellery then I'd say most people would welcome lovely earrings - these people do unusual and rather beautiful ones.

Books - these reading subscriptions are well spoken of.
Theatre - voucher for her local theatre
Gardening - tickets for Chelsea?

alligatorsmile · 18/06/2019 13:04

Earrings might be good.

She is quite crafty. Not outdoorsy really.

An expensive scented candle would go down well with me. Or a lovely scarf.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 18/06/2019 13:20

Books
Spa voucher
Craft materials. Deramores, Sew &So, Black Sheep Craft Barn, etc
Subscription box for make up or gin or socks or whatever
A ticket for a craft show
Fitbit
Bamboo socks from Bam

Hmm Grin

Now I love being given good socks - and would loathe a scented candle & never use an expensive scarf.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 18/06/2019 15:46

Bamboo socks are the best thing ever. Mine took me on a 10 mile charity walk with not a single blister.

A farthing coin from 1949 like this

My nan was 70 last year and I bought her a sixpence from her year of birth set in a silver cameo brooch. She was over the moon with it.

florentina1 · 18/06/2019 16:02

For my 70th I received, Cashmere Socks, silk scarf Jo Malone products , a Birthstone Pendant a Silver scarf ring, I loved them all.
