What does your 7-8 year old play with??

It's his birthday and I need inspiration. I think he's really lacking in just toys! We've got loads of craft / science / board games and a bit of hot wheels.

We are drowning in lego that gets built in a day then ignored!!

What toys does your 7/8 year old play with regularly??

He's recently gotten into Pokemon Hmm
We got him a Switch for his recent birthday. He's only allowed on it certain time of day etc
Bike riding
Football
Super Mario
Arts and crafts
Reading- loves fact books- or the ripley books!

My 7 year old is always outside on his bike or go kart. We recently bought him some small ramps for his mini rocker bmx and hes always out practicing stunts. In the house he tends to colour in, make crafts or mess on making slime etc. I prefer dry weather when hes outside Grin

Sylvanian Families, Top Trumps and bog standard farm animals, plus I would suggest a big box of LEGO (perhaps an eBay bundle) might be played with differently than the sets that come with instructions?

Aldi had some really good board games in the last few weeks - one called Square Up that can be played alone and another one by the same company.

My DD also loves her code wheel / invisible ink pens / UV light spy kit.

I have a seven and an eight year old.
Jointly they love
nerf and the nerf nitro cars,
football,
Playmobil,
Lego,
Board games.

One has recently got into bird watching and will sit looking through binoculars for ages.
One loves cross words, puzzles and brain game type things.

We were given some air dry clay recently that they enjoyed messing about with

Mine loves building forts! His entire bedroom is draped in blankets Grin. He’s also very arty.

kenandbarbie · 18/06/2019 10:41

Same story LEGO that gets built in a day then ignored. And dinosaurs.

Fairylea · 18/06/2019 10:47

Remote control cars
Lego
Electric scooter!

nelsonmuntzslingshot · 18/06/2019 10:59

I bought DD7 a Kano Harry Potter coding wand last Christmas. She loves it and it's something we can do together. Really good fun.

nelsonmuntzslingshot · 18/06/2019 11:00

I also meant to say that the other big hit of the year for both DDs has been a trampoline.

Br1ll1ant · 18/06/2019 11:07

Pokemon, gravitrax, nerf guns and lego were the most well received gifts for my 8 year old DS last week.

FusionChefGeoff · 18/06/2019 11:17

Hooray loads of brilliant ideas. Can anyone enlighten me as to what you actually but for Pokemon and then what you do with it??

Mine's been playing with a toy sword for hours per day for the last few days. He bought it with pocket money - we're on holiday so don't have much with us. He drew spider man and other marvel characters and played with them like Playmobil for several days. If you have Lego you probably don't want to go Spiderman.

At home it's bikes, skateboard, rollerblades. I'd go outdoor toys for a June birthday unless he already has all that.

anothernotherone · 18/06/2019 11:21

*oops Spiderman should have been Playmobil, if you have Lego you probably don't want Playmobil...

Br1ll1ant · 19/06/2019 06:01

Re Pokemon - we got books, cards, figures and a hat. I don’t really know what they play with the cards but together they can play for ages!
