watch news programmes, political programmes - Question Time, This Week, Daily Politics, other current affairs programmes
read quality press
I also work in the civil service, I'm involved in some policy areas in education so have an inside view on some things

I love Twitter for quick updates - follow all the major news outlets (those you align with and those you don't, so you don't create your own little echo chamber) broadcasters, individual journalists and politicians of the moment/that you're interested in (same as newspapers in following people you don't necessarily like/agree with).

Read newspapers/online news. Talk to people. Read threads here!

Also it's not dumb to ask. Dumb is not being informed and not asking

managedmis · 18/06/2019 01:37

I don't, really

I try to read a few threads on here though

Read news online daily. Not much more than that. I ignore a lot as thoroughly fed up. In my 20s and 30s i was much better informed.

My kids The Week Junior is pretty good too!

BoogleMcGroogle · 18/06/2019 06:33

I listen to radio 4, probably for about 4 hours a day all-in, and much of that's the news output. I read The New Statesman each week, although that's a bit 'welcome to the echo chamber'. I often snaffle my 10 year old's The Week Junior, as it's about the right level for me. Except the Soduku, she has to help me with that Wink

MinnieMountain · 18/06/2019 06:58

The Week and Radio 4.

Thanks all- I'm going to give some of those a go😊
