Which day out?

Going to the Lakes in a few weeks and want to plan a trip to a zoo/animal park. Would you rather do one that is 40mins drive away, is an alright day out. Or one that is 1.45hrs drive but a better day out. Both are the same price. We've done both a looong time ago, and neither are drivable from home for the day. We also cannot justify the expense of both (plus who needs two animal parks in one week?)

Should add kids are both under 8.

40 mins away! Especially with 2 kids under 8.

Unless you can relatively easily get to the one that is furthest away by train, as the train journey might add to the fun of the day.

No train option. They aren't bad travellers, but it does seem the most sensible option to go for the 40 mins drive. It's just the 1.45h place is better which I can't imagine the kids would care about but I might

Ah neither of them! Maybe that is a third option.

When I put Dalton Zoo in Google it just brings up South lakes safari, which is one of them.

Oh god no, don't drive all that way for Blackpool zoo. South lakes is much better. You can take a picnic in as well to save on the crazy food prices at these places
