Can anyone tell me how long it takes for chicken pox marks to leave skin after the infection? I have around 150 pox just on my face alone. It is all over my body so just have around 1000 pox! I'm many concerned abut my face and neck. The doctor says none are infected and should fall off after 2 weeks. Does any have experience of getting this as an adult and can tell me what to expect in terms of total recovery time till my skin is back to 'normal' presuming I get no deep scarring?

2-3 weeks. I found Virasoothe was helpful. Sitting in a bath with porridge oats. Have you been put on Acyclovir? I found it stopped any further spots immediately. The rest dried up fairly quickly.

I had it at 15 so older than most, and was covered. I think I only have a couple of scars left by one or two bigger, deeper spots. I honestly can't remember how long it was before I looked 'normal', but as a 15yo girl, I'm sure I would've remembered if it had lasted too long. I had 2 weeks off school - it could only have been an extra week or two before most has vanished.

Make sure you don’t take ibuprofen/nurofen

My 16 year old had it recently and it was around 3.5 weeks before all the spots and marks were gone (she did scratch though)

Thanks everyone. I tried anti virals but had a severe reaction so I can’t take any more. Fingers crossed they will be gone soon!

I think my skin was back to normal in about 2-3 weeks after the scabs went.

You have my deepest sympathies. I honestly thought it was curtains for me when I had chicken pox. I have never felt so unwell.

I had a terrible case of it when I was 12yo or so. I only have scars on the ones that went infected.
