Hospital bill-Italy

DS had an accident skiing in Italy in February and needed a hospital stay.

Our insurance have still not paid the €2234 bill from the Italian government despite saying they would pay within the required 30 days.

We've had another letter saying pay within 10 days or they'll take legal action.

TFC Insurance are impossible to get hold of by phone. Should I just pay and claim it back from TFC?

That sounds extremely frustrating. I understand that insurance companies are regulated by the Financial Ombudsman. You could try ringing them for some advice:

Have they said why they haven't paid?
Is there outstanding paperwork, or have you just fallen through the cracks of their system?

Did you definitely have coverage for skiing accidents? It’s usually not included with standard insurance and you have to pay extra.

I mentioned escalating our complaint when I finally got through and magically it is being looked at today.

I'll go to the FSO on Friday if it's not been resolved by then.

The insurance was recommended by The Ski Club of Great Britain. Cover is not disputed, it's crap admin.
