I just fly spray'd two flies that have been annoying me buzzing around. They fell to the floor and then did that spinning around on the floor thing. I Swear flies do the biggest guilt trip before they die.

I open the hatch thing on our fish tank when there’s one buzzing around here. The light attracts them and the fish eat them

Also have a tennis racket shaped battery operated electric shocker for zapping flies. Quite good fun and avoids noxious fumes

I don't hurt spiders, wasps, bees or hornets though. I trap and release those

wheresmymojo · 17/06/2019 16:06

My cats eat them all - we call them 'sky raisins'

BiteyShark · 17/06/2019 16:56

I used to open a window or door and kind of herd them out by flapping my arms about. Now I don't need to as the dog kills and eats them [boak]

I only kill flies and slugs. Oh and wasps. In my defence i dud save a bee the other day with the sugary water trick.

The hoover idea sounds a goer. Might try that next time although I can just imagine by the time I get the hoover out and plug it in the fly would disappeared until the moment I put the hoover away only for it to reappear. Maybe I should get a flemus fly trap. That also helps the food chain.

I found the perfect trick to mitigating the guilt of killing the buggers. I bought DS a Venus fly trap. I give him the fly swat and tell him to catch it (or I do) and then tell him to go and feed his fly trap.

Sad

Laurajjj - wasps are pollinators too

Bleurgh! I can’t stand flies. When we lived in Oz I couldn’t handle fly season knowing they’d probably been sat on a poo and then sit on my face. That first fly season when I ended up with masses of maggots in the house 🤮

Wasps are nasty buggers though
