Why do TV channels move Channels?

Dave has recently moved from 16 to 19 and other channels have done this before to. Does anybody know why they do this?
Im confused by it!

Don’t know but it annoys me when the tv needs retuning - my tv is several years old and all the words have rubbed off the remote so I can’t remember which ones to press to find the menu to retune! 😂😂😂 first world problems eh?!

For some reason on my TV, Channel 4 is actually on 7 Not sure if this is just my TV or not...

Because the government changes/frees up available frequencies for other projects
