Have you looked on Pinterest?

I can lose hours on there Blush

TeenTimesTwo · 15/06/2019 21:19

Chose a wall colour that has lasted well from child to older teen. Feature wall in different colour.

Removable wall stickers that have changed as they grew up. Started with eg Winnie the Pooh, moved on to things like stars, butterflys and decals.

Ds’s room is navy blue (previous owners choice) so it’s pretty dark. We turned it into a space theme, with a moon light and a rocket light, and glow stars on the walls. And Asda Catstronauts bedlinen, which I love so much I’d quite like it on my own bed.

I got both my kids curtains on eBay for under £10- professionally made, expensive fabric and blackout lined. There seems to be a lot of kids ones on there- so that’s my best tip!

wheresmymojo · 15/06/2019 21:40

Now I want Castronaut bedding. I just showed DH and got a resounding 'no' Sad

Teen ds chose his own stuff...

At the moment it’s grey, with white furniture, a mural on one wall (paid an art student to do it), and bunting with DC’s name on. We also have a rug that’s a road map- an absolute bargain from Ikea.

Beach Theme, wall stickers, beach hut bedding, blue and white stripy canvas boxes for storage and I found some great pebble door knobs in Dunelm so I swapped them on the wardrobe and drawers.

Teenaged dd has white walls with one long wall with butterfly wall paper. She's out grown it and I'm due to decorate in September when youngest starts school and I have a bit more time.
She's got a really knack to making her room look good it's full of fairy lights, photos, a gallery wall etc..
Dd2 is also due to be decorated one wall of pink and white pattern wallpaper and white walls.
Ds1 has just had his done it's polished pebble with batman bedding and vintage style superhero prints.
Ds2 has just had his done too, it's jurassic stone (pale olive green) with a dinosaur theme.

Hefzi · 15/06/2019 22:12

I have that bedding! There are some advantages to being single Grin

Hefzi · 15/06/2019 22:12

Just regret only buying one set - catstronauts rock!

Rainbowknickers · 15/06/2019 22:30

My stepdaughters room is gray and navy blue
Blue curtains and carpet with goosedown by it seems to have a blueish undertone
We’ve framed her posters and bought her cheapy white bedding
I now want her room!

Dontbestupidagain · 15/06/2019 22:34

Yellow and grey wallpaper. Yellow curtains. White furniture.

TeapotofTerror · 15/06/2019 22:41

I have that Catstronaut bedding too! In king size Grin

CluedoIsMyFavGame · 15/06/2019 22:41

We went a bit bonkers with the full wall mural. Kids are 9yo and 3yo. They're in the master bedroom and I think we'll need to strip the wall to remove it Grin either that or DH and I will have a lovely Batman themed room too.

Two brothers sharing, they have white walls, white carpet (thank you previous tenants) covered with a small kilim rug, white furniture, white sofa (moved out of living room where it was always getting marks on it), mega colourful cheerful duvet covers and pillows from Ikea. Oh and a Death Star nightlight and an Aloe Vera plant 🌱

Racheyg · 15/06/2019 22:49

Depends on the age.
Ds are 5 and 4 and have lime green and grey walls with dinosaur stickers and dinosaur curtains and bedding.

Their furniture is white. No toys in the room just books and lots of pictures.

Mummydoctor · 15/06/2019 22:52

One son has a jungle themed room (age 8) and the other has army themed (age 10). Had them decorated two years ago and still look fresh and nice.

3yo DDs room has a navy wall, with the rest light grey. Grey carpet, white roller blind and white drawers. Her bed is the IKEA Kura and I've draped tulle on the head and foot of it to soften the room a little. A bit like a mini four poster.

Mint accents (painted table, shelves, pictures, frames, teepee, cushions etc). Bit of a gallery wall.thing going on above the bed to break it up a little. This was my inspiration pic.

She loves it. I am under no illusion that I'll get as much of a say next time we decorate her room!

DS has Harry Potter - he's 9 and I suspect he'd now like it changed to Liverpool but I'll miss the HP! He's weird like me and likes 'old stuff' so has old furniture we found on eBay.

DD 12 has a garden theme with blue sky/clouds wallpaper. We got a massive branch that looks like a tree out of the woods and put it up behind her bed. It's covered in twinkly lights and looks amazing. Got florists leaves on wire and put hundreds of those up too.

The rest of our house is a bit weird too tbh...

  1. Dark grey walls, one orange wall with arty photos of grey sports cars and one grey wall with arty photos of orange sports cars.

2. Pale lilac walls with arty photos of books.

3. Navy walls with arty space photos.

We are all keen photographers, can you tell ?
