Have you ever got back with an ex? Did it work out?

My best friend is re-marrying her ex husband in a few weeks. They were teenage sweethearts, married at 19, had 3 kids and then kinda drifted apart and divorced after 10 years. They said they married too young. They have stayed friends and get on really well and now, 6 years after their divorce, they are back together and getting married again in August!

Yes, was with him at 17 and finally got back together in my 30s. Long gap but we're well suited, I was just too young the first time around. 10 years on I still get butterflies when he's due home.

Yes. We dated for almost two years before splitting up for a year. We were both young and had our issues to work out, and the year apart did us both a lot of good for many different reasons. We are getting married next year and are very happy.

I would say in most cases getting back with an ex doesn't work, but in our case, we both took an active role in bettering ourselves, and we have the same values and agree on how we want to live our lives. So it works.

I spent five years pining for him, and eventually plucked up the courage to send a Christmas card to his old address - this was in the days of letters and landlines; long before googling existed! We got back together, but I quickly realised he was actually a narcissistic twat, and I walked away without a backward glance. It was so liberating!

Db on the other hand, went out with a girl throughout university. After graduating they split up because they wanted to live in different parts of the country and neither was prepared to compromise.

About a decade later, they got back together, and married. That was eight years ago and they are very happy.
