Rash on teen DS - ideas please

Sent home from school with headache & temp on Weds.
Seemed better Thurs ... but they sent him home again. Shivering & hot by Thurs eve.
Kept him off on Fri. Temperature responded well to paracetamol.

Just woken up saying he feels much better... but with itchy red blotches across his arms & chest!

Have given him an anti-allergy tablet to reduce general inflamation.

No recent changes to washing powders, soaps, etc.

Any ideas?!

Viral rash? Ties in with feeling crap and often comes out once the fever has broken.

... and he's had all his jabs. Had chicken pox when he was younger.

Thanks loaf. It doesn't seem to match any of the named ones, so he's got something vague.

He's well enough to be very grumpy about the itching!

That looks a lot like the urticaria I get, which just pops up for no reason at all other than it wants to say hello. Particularly if I get too hot... antihistamines usually see it subsiding in three or fours hours. My first thought was shingles but it’s not on just one side of his body, is it? Hope he feels better soon, itching is hugely grump inducing and miserable. Maybe a cool flannel on the rash? Or perhaps some very mild hydrocortisone cream (you can get HC45 at pharmacy) if it’s not calming by lunchtime?

It looks like urticaria, you can that post viral, my dd did for a few days after she had recovered from chicken pox

Thank you :-) Much reassured that we're doing the right thing.

Definitely not shingles as it's in lots of places. DC1 had shingles aged just 9!
