London recommendations

Yet another London thread, my sincerest apologies Blush

I’m unexpectedly on my own in London this weekend and have had a tough week with work and some bad news.

Looking for recommendations of nice things to do, or treats that are fine for a solo traveller and will help cheer me up!

I’ve done most of the usual sightseeing-type things previously as I’m here a fair amount (workweek commute). I’d just like to let go of the stress of this week and it’s tricky without my usual home comforts.

TIA

Sorry you've had a tough week.

Things that you could consider:
Massage at one of the Cowshed spas or a fancy hotel spa
Solo brunch or lunch somewhere with an amazing view - The Shard or Sky Garden or Oxo Tower perhaps
Walk along the South Bank or through one of the Inns of Court (perhaps followed by browsing the shops on Lamb's Conduit Street)
Some time in a book shop - Daunt or Hatchard's
A film at one of the Everyman or Picturehouse cinemas in the evening
Coffee by the Serpentine in Hyde Park
Take yourself off to a nice pub with the weekend papers. I like the pubs in the Geronimo group like the Surprise in Chelsea

V&A for either the Quant or Dior exhibition - get there early as there might be some tickets on the day left. Royal Academy for the Summer Exhibition. Lehman Trilogy, might easily get a single ticket, it’s brilliant.

Sorry you’ve had a rough week

Go and have breakfast or afternoon tea at the wolseley

Go and see some improv at the comedy store and laugh your arse off

If it’s a nice day ride the Thames clipper along the river and go and to the Tate modern

Get tickets to a midsummer nights dream at the bridge theatre - it is spectacular

Go and hang out at the top of Waterstones on Piccadilly with a couple of good books and a glass of wine

Thank you all for the recommendations. A Midsummer Nights Dream was fantastic!

I also had great walks along the South Bank and Hyde Park as well as a Hatchards visit and cream tea at The Wolseley.

Definitely going to treat myself to dinner this evening - this was just what I needed Smile

So pleased you had a nice weekend OP (and that you liked Dream - it’s great isn’t it?)

Hope things look up for you!
