If you mixed fed?

If you mixed fed weather it be formula or expressed when did you introduce a bottle? I tried with my DS when he was 6 weeks old and he refused every time since. Would like to mix feed this new baby in Oct.

About 8 weeks I think.

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 14/06/2019 18:19

We did it at 10 days with both dc. We didn't have any problems.

11 or 12 days , teeny tiny amounts just to get dd to take it, building up to a couple of oz by 3/4 weeks. She had a bottle of f every day as the lastfeed of the day and it worked out really well for us.

Ahh thanks guys. I really dont want a bottle refuser this time round so keen to try early. Did you babies have dummies? Do you think that helped any?

With both mine... End of first week or so as no milk coming through as i wasn't well... Accepted as starving! 😭 1st time on doctors recommendation, 2nd time just did when realised going same route!

As my milk came back we did 1 bottle a day... Late at night by partner before he went to bed... I went to sleep early evening and bottle meant I could sleep longer.

Obviously don't recommend starving but it was effective... Dummy didn't vary it (one had, one didn't)

NotSoThinLizzy · 14/06/2019 19:04

Yeah the plan would be the one bottle before bed so OH can do it so I can get some sleep. Then I'll take over. So will still get all the night making milk hormones.

Around a week old I think. DC1 was a complete bottle-refuser so was keen to avoid that. Introduced 1 bottle a day at about 1 week old and it worked a treat. I carried on bf until 14mo but was able to be away from DC2 for the odd day here and there, which did me a lot of good.

NormHonal · 14/06/2019 19:10

And yes, we also did the bottle before bedtime.

Day 2

Bobbiepin · 14/06/2019 19:15

A month, give or take. Dd refused to take it from me but occasionally did from dh. We changed to MAM bottles and that worked much better.

I would go to bed straight after the 9pm feed, dh would give her a bottle at midnight and then bring her to me for the next feed. Anything after that she was in the moses basket and I did the night feed. Worked this way until 5 months when I gradually introduced more bottles.

Flatwhite32 · 14/06/2019 19:16

3 days in (expressed milk!). DD never had issues switching between breast and bottle, and when she went to bottles full time at 7 months, there were no issues at all. It worked so well for us, and I'll hopefully be doing the same if we have another.

elliejjtiny · 14/06/2019 19:17

I mix fed ds3 for 2 years. Introduced a bottle on day 4 I think.

Caterina99 · 15/06/2019 01:48

About 3 days I think
