Dead hedgehogs following me today...

This morning I came out the doctors surgery and stood in the remains of a dead (and very pre-squashed) hedgehog. It was right outside the door. Disgusting and horrible. I told the surgery and they said they would clear it up. It wasn’t there when I went in and I was only there about 10 minutes to pick up a prescription. It looked like road kill.

I’ve just come home and DD shouted there is a hedgehog by the door. Lying right by our front door in a swarm of flies is a dead hedgehog. This one isn’t squashed so not roadkill, it’s perfect apart from being obviously dead, lying on its side and the swarm of flies.

I’m not sure how best to dispose of it as our bins won’t be emptied for two weeks as they came today. I’m also a bit spooked out by how it got there and that is is the second one today. Do they make a habit of dying right outside doors? We don’t have any pets or put out slug pellets and as far as I’m aware our neighbours don’t either.

The surgery is a 10 minute drive away so the locations are unrelated.

That's spooky. I saw a dead one in the road today and dh has just come home and said he saw two dead ones, small ones not quite babies but not very old, in his work car park.

So sad to see when numbers are falling.

RIP hedgies Sad
