Q about school attendance

DD has a series of 10 weekly physio appointments. They were at 8.30-9.15 every Wednesday, so I took her back to school afterwards. On each occasion she was back in school by 9.30/5.

We’ve now received the letter saying her attendance had dropped below 95%. These appointments have gone down as ‘medical authorised absence’.

I know, I know the school have to do the letters.
But I’m surprised that it’s gone down as an absence when she was back in by 9.30! On another day when our car broke down we got to school at 10, and for that we only got a Late!

So is this normal? Am I right to be a bit annoyed about this? Or is this standard? Thanks

Could you not call the head and ask?
My daughter was out for a month last term but the school just asked for a doctors letter. Private school though so might be different.

If she misses registration then she is marked absent.

Thanks for replies. I rang the office, and they’ve agreed that it’s been marked incorrectly. Smile So it’s now been put as late - medical, and doesn’t count towards absence.
