What sort of light fitting do I need for this?

Our lounge has a plaster ceiling rose with quite a large... nubbin is there a technical term? I have no clue

I can’t seem to find any drop caps that will fit over it. I asked an electrician and he suggested we remove the ceiling rose Hmm

Also, the rest of our lights are either flush to the ceiling or have a flat ceiling rose like this second picture. They’re all hanging off like this. Do we need an electrician to secure them to the ceiling or can we do it ourselves? They’re all wired in and working, we just need to secure the fittings.

Yes you can do it yourself, just drill gently. We did out own. For the high nubbin it'll be a case of trial and error, or you could shave the nubbin off (if it's plaster, just remove if plastic or metal and put the wires in an electrical chocolate box and attach the light fitting to that. We had to do that it all if ours due to short wires from a bodged DIY job from previous owners.
