Gift for nephew 16?

My nephew turned 16 yesterday and we're going to his party Saturday. We have one gift but would like to get something else for up to £20. The problem is he doesnt really have hobbies apart from gaming, he has plenty of money, wears designer clothes and trainers so I've no idea what to get him!

Any ideas welcome. Thanks.

Does he like reading? Or perhaps a 6 month subscription to a gaming magazine?

EdtheBear · 14/06/2019 01:09

Given you've got something for him to open I'd consider a cinema voucher or put the £20 in a card. At that age they are so hard to buy for but love being able to buy new clothes and things.

No he doesn't read.

I thought about money bit he'll get so much from other relatives (think hundreds), £20 will be nothing to him. He doesn't really go to the cinema.

Nandos voucher?

newmomof1 · 14/06/2019 03:24

You can get gift cards for Xbox live/Steam etc depending on whether he plays console or PC

Batsypatsy · 14/06/2019 07:48

I'll have to check what he plays, I'm not sure.

He doesn't go out really unless with family so cinema or restaurant vouchers wouldn't be much use yet.

Amazon voucher?

IHeartArya · 14/06/2019 08:03

I was coming onto say PlayStation voucher or amazon. Can get what he fancies then.

Batsypatsy · 14/06/2019 08:16

I'd really rather get him a gift. He has so much money he doesn't know what to do with it.

Does he watch Game of Thrones? GoT Monopoly? Or a poker game set? Cards Against Humanity?

Batsypatsy · 14/06/2019 08:40

Not sure, I'll check.

I'd say a goodie hamper. Boys that age are usually ravenous and would appreciate things like Pringles, pack of coke, nice crisps, chocolates etc?

Inadays · 14/06/2019 08:52

As he’s already loaded (!) and has lots of material gifts, have you got time to make a personal card for him with a montage of funny photos of him as a baby/child? I know he may not appreciate it now, but it will be lovely to look back on when he’s older. Just a thought. My DS is 16 and obsessed with gaming and likes humorous things and would appreciate this.

CallMeRachel · 14/06/2019 08:54

My son would be really mortified at getting a card montage of photos of him as a baby etc, that would not go down well with every 16 year old but you know him best.

BobbyBrewstersMagicTorch · 14/06/2019 08:58

Is he my son??? He sounds just the same. Could you get an echo dot or similar? Not sure of the price though. My son would appreciate anything "techy". Bluetooth speaker, Bluetooth earphones, Spotify voucher?

Inadays · 14/06/2019 09:11

Depends so much on their personality, obviously, so photo montage may be hideous indeed! I bought my DS a t-shirt and a mug with ‘Legend since 2003’ printed on them. They went down well too.

Batsypatsy · 14/06/2019 09:13

We've already got a photo book as his other gift.

The house is full of Alexa already! Grin

Plenty of sweets, crisps and cakes in the house always to the extent it's a problem so not sure about a hamper.

Would he want aftershave or something like that, not sure what you'd get for £20 though, a wallet may be?
