Valuation on house

I'm not sure where to post this so thought maybe here?!

I have some valuations on a property that has been inherited. I'm just wondering if anyone knows what I should ask the estate agents when they come to value the property?

Any help would be much appreciated Smile

Hi Mumofgirls,

Normally they just do their own thing and will get back to you with a valuation. Be sure to tell them if there's an attic, it comes with parking... anything not immediately obvious.

If you're going ahead and selling it soon I'd ask each one what percentage their fee is, how they plan to market it, if they've sold similar properties recently etc.

If you'd like us to move this over to Property and DIY give us a shout . You might get more targeted answers over there.

In the meantime, anyone else got any thoughts?

Are you getting them to value it with a view to them taking it on to sell? If so ask:

  • what's there comission
  • what's the tie-in period?
  • what do they realistically think it'll sell for (could be quite different from what they'd market it at)
  • what's the current market like in the area
  • do they have otter properties like this on their books? How are they selling?
