I know my friend will only eat halal so sorted out a vegetarian lunch to be on safe side now worrying about the feta. Shes due in an hour so not much time to change things.

Google seems inconclusive. Can anyone help please?

Does the pack have a V for vegetarian sign on it, or does it say suitable for vegetarians? If so, fine.

Most halal issues are to do wih blood. Some strict Muslims might also be strict about rennet in cheese, but if it says ok for veggies then it's OK for strict Muslims.

There are recipes including feta on the vegetarian society website, so I think it will be fine

Can you not text your friend and ask?

Is this Turkish feta or greek feta? Turkish feta is halal even when it contains rennet because the cow is slaughtered appropriately. Supermarket feta, if vegetarian, doesn’t have any animal products at all so should he okay.

Thanks everyone.

I feel such an idiot it had a V for vegetarian on it after all that :)

You're not an idiot, you're a thoughtful friend.
Enjoy your meal.
