Help me solvetab the mystery of the disappearing kitchen knives

I can't find my small and my medium sized vegetable paring knives. I have looked absolutely everywhere*.

The window cleaner turned up this morning as I was cutting up a mango and some strawberries to go on my porridge. I used both knives to do the cutting and left them on the chopping board on the worktop.

The window cleaner did his thing and left. I ate my porridge in another room whilst MNing . I put the bowl in the dishwasher and looked for the knives. Gone.

The only explanation I can think of is that the window cleaner got them caught up in his cleaning clothes and they ended up in his bucket BUT he would have noticed by now and brought them back.

So Ms Marples, what has happened to my knives?

Hmmm maybe the window cleaner stole them, as he is a secret gang member or a psychopath 😲

It’s possible your cat may have joined a gang and stole the knives as part of an initiation.

Fallen down between cooker and whatever is next to the cooker

Bottom of the dishwasher underneath the rack

Thrown in the wash with a teatowel

Chucked in the compost with the fruit peel

Under something or in between things, e.g. if there's a plate on top of another plate they could be in between

Put down somewhere weird when you went to let the window cleaner in and found you were still holding them, so e.g. a ledge, table, window sill etc next to the front door

As above but happened when you went to the loo

Clean and put away because you've forgotten that you rinsed and wiped them as soon as you'd used them

Mango, strawberry and porridge in the morning before work?

My aunt was looking for a mug. She could only find three. I hoped she hadn't put it in the freezer (she is getting a bit Ga ga - family nickname for her!) after looking everywhere she decided to check the washing up and there it was. she had been doing the washing up - how had she missed a mug???!!

By the front door? Or anywhere between the kitchen, front door and lounge (assuming you answered the door with them in your hand then put them down without thinking).

I lost my two favourite kitchen knives and one eventually turned up in a hanging basket by the back door (not a euphemism).
I think dh had borrowed it for something outside, then thought "I'll put it in here for now" then forgot about it.
Check any hanging baskets!

if it's kitchen knives I can't help you. But every time I open my knife drawer there seem to be more table knives

I have interrogated my 3 housemates and they deny all knowledge but did look sideways at the neighbours' cats.

I have checked everywhere including all the places mentioned by EatsFarts

I can only conclude that my window cleaner collects souvenirs from the houses he cleans (lighthearted). He's due back in 4 weeks so I'll ask him then.

My family moved three months ago and I've lost my popcorn popper and two lids to my Cuisinart cookware I use daily. I'm wondering if my cat is behind it!?

That's what I think must have happened to my lovely and horrendously expensive Global knife. ::weeps::

Or, you put them down when you got out your purse. Or when you went to the door. Or you put them in the fridge when you put away the milk.

I found one of mine when I turned the compost heap.
Must have gone into the compost bucket outside the back door with all the peelings, then taken to the bottom of the garden when bucket was emptied.

Well you will never believe it but they both turned up in the cutlery tray of the dishwasher when I emptied it. The dishwasher cutlery tray that I checked and double checked and triple checked and I swear were not there! Either I am going doolally or there is a rip in the space/time continuum or I have a playful ghost.

On the positive side I don't appear to have a dangerous knife wielding window cleaner.

So Im sitting here this evening 24 July in the UK at 7pm, enjoying 2 slices of cheese and tomato on toast.
I am holding a knife and fork. All of a sudden my right hand starts vibrating and my knife flies out of my hand.
I have spent the last 2 hours trying to find the knife. I have looked everywhere.

Isn't that odd? It has disappeared into thin air!
