Unsure what to do

We have a beach hut booked for today. It's absolutely hammering down, is 10° and shows no signs of improving. Gut has been booked for a couple of months and I've been really looking forward to it. I can't cancel because it's non refundable. It's about a 90 min drive and I'll have a 10mo and a 3yo with me.

Do i go? I really don't want too! I hate the cold and rain.

Ah that's a shame. If your children were older I'd say take wellies and raincoats and go for it - a beach in the rain can be fun! but it will be hard with a 10month old.

I had no idea you could book beach huts for a day. How much does it cost?

QuestionableMouse · 12/06/2019 09:23

It was £30 for the day and I can't get it back. It seems a lot of money to waste if we don't go but I have a feeling its going to be grim. I'm so disappointed ☹️

Go! It might change it might not, take waterproofs, a picnic and a flask. You can always decamp to a cafe for hot chocolate and / or ice cream.

I wouldn't go. An hour and a half to get there and sit miserable, cold and wet? Not remotely enjoyable.

QuestionableMouse · 12/06/2019 09:41

I've been outvoted so we're going. I'm not looking forward to it but hopefully it'll be okay. It's forecast heavy rain all day so I'm guessing we won't be there for very long.

I would go, wrap up warm and take hot tea and soup with you.

With the right attitude you can derive fun in even the grimmest situation.

One of the days my dc remember is sitting under an awning eating chips in the pouring rain after a splash about in the sea on a random day out.

You have the car to decamp to at the end of the day.

TheCanyon · 12/06/2019 09:51

No, don't go. Why waste money on petrol to be cold, wet and miserable? The 3yo might still have fun but you and the baby wont.

QuestionableMouse · 12/06/2019 10:27

I've said that repeatedly but everyone else wants to go and I'm the only one who doesn't. We're going but I'm not happy about it. I could just refuse but I'm the one driving and my parents won't drive that far.

Go there, drop your parents off with the kids then find yourself a nice coffee shop and drink coffee/eat cake/read until they text you to go and fetch them.

Damntheman · 12/06/2019 11:04

It'll be ok OP :) Lots of fun can still be had in the pouring rain. There's surely a lovely cafe on the beach front, and beach weather can change suddenly. Good luck!

QuestionableMouse · 12/06/2019 19:06

Well we went. It has pissed down all day, resulting in a cranky toddler, a grumpy baby and I've come home with a super sore throat.

The beach hut was cool though and the fish and chips were really nice so it worked out okay... 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Not much of a view though 😂😂😂
